Fashion got a new addition in the year 1960 with the hippie style dresses that got familiar all over the world. People that were much more interested in this fashion statement, wanted great designer dresses that made to appeal this fashion sense in a much high manner. From patchwork and tie dye in summer and spring outfits, hippie prom dresses and hippie wedding dresses and gowns also became quite popular.
However, there are various online stores that offer a great variety in these dresses with different styles, colors and sizes. Moreover, for the real haute hippie clothes lover, there is only one real option and that is to make your own dresses. For example, patchwork requires some quilting skills both in cutting out and in piecing in addition to sewing the actual dress. Besides full on patchwork, there is set in fabric like is done on true bell bottom jeans and blue jean skirts. This is repurposed fabric from more than one garment you can use to make your dresses really far out.

Embroidery is another great addition to your clothes that give it that great hippie look and feel. There are a myriad of styles of embroidery that you can learn. However, it is essential that you keep it simple to begin and you'll see how quickly you can learn this craft to make your dresses more like the 60s clothes. If you can find or learn liquid embroidery and modern fabric paints, you can also make use of this art to change the look of your garment once you've sewn it together. Patch work was quite popular in the hippie era and was to patch up the holes and make garments last longer, especially because many of them were purchased second hand. But patches can now be added in a multitude of ways just to make a personal statement. Another really easy embellishment that was used in the 1960s was the addition of trim. This was typically rick rack or some other fabric added to cuffs, collars and pockets to enhance the look and change the style to a more personal look. Moreover, different colors, fabrics and laces work great for this style and of course you'll want to try your own hand at tie dying rather than just buying it already dyed. Whether you make your own haute hippie dresses, or buy them from outside, you'll truly enjoy the hip way you feel wearing your new decked out gear and know that you are reflecting your personal style.

Helmut Lang: clothes with a touch of austerity and intellectual appeal

The fashion brand Helmut Lang was created by an Australian fashion designer Lang and established his own fashion studio in Vienna in the year 1977. The fashion world appointed him as the king of Minimalism because of his minimalistic, deconstructive and usually severe designs and styles. The brand is still existing however, is has been carried on without the involvement of Lang himself since the years 2005. When he was just about twenty three years old, he opened a boutique in which his designs were fairly successful in Austria. After completing his exhibition of clothes and designs, which was initiated by the government of Austria, he was able to branch out successfully in Paris. It was only during this phase of his career that he created his own fashion label after which he returned to Vienna during the late 1980’s.

He sees fashion as fleeting, as technological, as part of the world that goes fast. Though he leans on using synthetic fabrics for his design, he very soon started to mix it with natural fabric before anyone could actually think of this invention. Fashion critics call him futuristic as he is a man of today who understands very well the intricacies of a world changing as fast as technology. The clothes that were designed and created by Helmut Lang were essentially made with careful cuts and sharp lines which resulted in creation of designs that were of high quality. Most of the costumes that he designed were made using high tech fabrics and included mostly black and white color as these two colors were his favorite. The slim men suits that he created were a favorite of fashionable advertising managers along with the other creative during that time. Due to the austerity and the intellectual appeal reflected by his designs, they were often compared to those of Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo.
